California State University, Fresno Outreach Services would like to invite you to the California State University African American Education and Leadership Forum (AAELF)

Date: Saturday, September 18, 2010

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  (Check-in is from 9:00 – 9:50 a.m.)

Place:  Bethesda Apostolic Church

3723 East Dakota Avenue, Fresno, CA 93726. 


This event is FREE and open to the public. Lunch will be provided for all registered attendees.  The first 100 students registered will receive a free gift.  All registered attendees are also automatically entered in an educational raffle drawing.  Attendees can register to win a $200 gift card, a $100, or one of two $50 gift cards.  You must be registered to win.

The forum titled “Returning to our Educational Roots: This Far by Faith” is geared towards students, parents, and educators.  The workshops being offered at the forum cover a variety of subjects to include college preparation, admission, financial aid and scholarship, mentorship, and advocacy. 

Workshops include:

The College Roadmap: Understanding the Ins and Outs of College Applications and Admissions / Affording College: Decoding the Financial Aid Process / Striving for African American Educational Excellence: Helping Your Child Succeed in College and Life / Parenting in the Real World / Making the Right Impression: The Do’s and Don’ts of Job Hunting / College Prep Begins Now!: A – G & College Making it Happen / Helping those Who Fall Through the Cracks: African American Youth and Foster Care…and many more!

The workshop presenters are professionals from a variety of educational fields.  Our keynotes will be speakers well-known for their work in a variety of career fields.  They will share their insights on African American females, Black male development, and at-risk youth.  They are guaranteed to Impress, Inform and Inspire!

In order to assist the planning committee and properly accommodate the students, we are requiring that attendees pre-register.  The deadline for registration is September 9, 2010.  Space is limited, so please register early.
